I'm all in for the smaller, pocket cruisers and camp cruising sailing style. KISS...

Thanks for keeping the boating life and interest alive as can be expected.

You state” People want more sailing and less project management…naturally this goes against grain of what we do at BoatFools Sailing, but so be it!”

Can you clarify? It seems like y’all are trying to get folks on the water and often encourage simplicity. I think the industry’s gravitational pull towards complexity hurts the market long term as the overhead turns of owners.Although it is the customers love of stuff that drive the more is better death spiral. I think reality is simple promotes more days on the water and higher fun per $.

Of course. So, in my opinion, there will always be work to be done when it comes to sailing/boating. We have a saying, "ease is the new disease", and so I am worried that anything that requires work or effort goes by wayside - which is a shame. So, to your point, as sailing becomes more complex, fewer people will take on the challenges. Simple is better - 100% - but even that requires effort. Even if you have a simple boat, like a Com-Pac 16 trailer sailer. You have to negotiate roads/traffic/parking issues, off-loading the boat, stepping the mast, rigging the sails, and the repeating that process upon return. That's a lot of work, so fewer people are opting to do it. That's one form of project management. The other is taking care of a boat - like changing the oil & fuel filters, maintaining the teak, waxing/buffing the topsides - all of this work and an ongoing project. For me, this worth is cathartic and rewarding. For others it becomes a chore, Then, there's the boat that just needs a little love to be beautiful again...That is a big ask these days on account of so many factors like money, time, and know-how. But these are where the real gems are and our hope is that folks will find them and bring them back - ultimately keeping them out of landfills, etc. Just my thoughts... Appreciate your comment!

Ok in that context we agree on everything. I thought you were saying that you liked more projects and less sailing… Ain’t semantics great. I am literally a professional project manager in the yachting industry and I still want people to sail more and project manage less.

I could have stated it more clearly in the newsletter! Anyway, I appreciate what you’re doing wherever that may be! Sailing is the best.

Susan! You are correct… Good eye. One never knows…but she’s a really lovely boat. The photo in the newsletter is one I took three summers ago in Rockland. Are you trying/hoping to buy her?
